Our Gite
Our dog-friendly holiday cottage Le Petit Four in the green heart of France, is located in the village of Lignac. Particularly suitable for people with dogs, this gîte sleeps 4 people.
Who is this holiday home suitable for?
If you like peace and quiet, want to be alone and have a good time, or are adventurous and want to explore the local environment offers endless possibilities. If you feel the need for a bit more excitement, then visit the dozens of different towns and villages, visit markets, eat in the surrounding out in the great choice of restaurants. Lake swimming, horse riding, cycling, canoeing, mountain biking, climbing, fishing are all on the doorstep. Why not visit the famous Futuroscope in Poitiers as well as the many beautiful historic châteaux. There is so much choice – it’s for you to decide.

What matters to us is that our guests and their four-legged friends can be free in peace and nature. Rest is an experience you're sure to enjoy here.
We leave it to the you to judge whether the gîte is suitable for large groups of dogs. .......Why? Because, in our experience, our pack of 6 collies (medium-sized dogs) lived very well in the single-family home where they grew up. They got enough exercise with a long walk every day or training sessions. In the house they were quiet, on the walks they had a blast. We were always on the road on our holidays, exploring the area, so when we get back to our gite, they were happy to relax and unwind.
But every breed and character is different, and so is every family, so we leave it to our guests to determine their dogs' needs. Of course, the size of the breed is another consideration.
Our gîte has a pleasant patio garden fully enclosed by walls at least 1.50 m high. A welcoming garden with an outdoor shower for cooling off in the heat, and a lovely sitting area with awning. Also, opposite the gîte is a fenced-in field where you and dog (or dogs) can play together. There's a balance and coordination course, opportunities for sniffing and running and romping with a picnic area and deckchairs. The enclosure is planted with vegetation and enclosed by a fence. They can play in the water during walks, as we are in the Brenne National Park (the region of 1000 lakes).
The house has 3 bedrooms. The ground-floor bedroom has a double kingsize bed 1.90 x 2 meter. The other bedroom is upstairs and also for 2 persons 1.90 x 1.80. There is also a 1 person room with single bed , perfect for a family with 2 children who will have there own room. On the ground floor are the bathroom with shower, toilet, washbasin and washing machine, the kitchen, the hall and the living room. The living room has a TV and WIFI. At the front of the gîte there's a small seating area, which is fenced in but not high. Perfect for having a cup of coffee in the morning to get you started for the day ahead..

After 36 years of owning dogs, breeding our beloved breed, training, teaching agility and show-training at a dog school and many experiences in dog behaviour, we know better than anyone how important it is to be able to go on vacation in peace with a reactive dog so that he can enjoy it with his owner for once! The great thing about our gite is that it's wonderful quiet small village location.
We're just outside the village centre, at the end of a cul-de-sac. From here, you can immediately go for a lovely walk where you'll meet hardly anyone. You can walk around the fishpond, but you can also let your dogs run free on the fenced-in grounds.
